Selling art on the Internet

Does anyone have any experience with selling their work on the internet?

I have had a website for years without selling anything. I have listed my site in a few places here and there but I'm not sure how to really get people to know about it. How do you market a personal online art gallery? I know at least some people like my work, so it is not just that I suck... I just don't know how to let the world know that I exist. My site is pretty professional looking and easy enough to navigate I think... just need shoppers, with money to spend. Any advise?

The fact that your site has been 'listed here and there' does not mean that you benefit from the 'millions of site-views, that many providers are proud to announce. It means simply, that many thausand art scouters have difficulties to find your entry.

Don't overrate the the influence of  online merchandising - art lovers and tomato buyers resemble each other very much. Both want to see and touch the commodity, before they pay. No one else knows 'shoppers with money to spent'   better, than professional galleries.
